What is Platform Tennis?
Platform Tennis is a racquet sport primarily played in the winter but we offer platform tennis YEAR ROUND! The court is elevated on a platform to allow heaters underneath to melt the snow and ice. It is roughly 1/3 the area of a conventional tennis court and is enclosed on all sides by mesh walls. The rules of Platform Tennis are very similar to traditional tennis with a few exceptions:
• Only one serve is allowed
• Serves that touch the net are played• The ball can be played off the screened walls
• If a ball in play or on the service hits the deck in bounds and then touches any part of the back or side screens, it may be played, as long as it does not bounce on the deck a second time.
Because of its defense-oriented style of play, platform tennis causes less wear and tear on the body than regular tennis, while still maintaining the same fast-paced experience. So put on your hats and gloves, and come to Vitense Golfland to have a blast on our platform tennis court!
